Amped DVRConv and Engine update

Hello everyone and welcome to another update of Amped DVRConv and Amped Engine. With this release, we have added a number of newly supported formats and variants. We have also updated the installer to automatically check for the correct functioning of associated executables.

Read on to find out more!

Key Takeaways

  • Installer reliability has been improved with automatic checks that verify required third-party executables are present, correctly located, and working properly during installation.
  • Video conversion workflows are more dependable, helping users catch setup issues early before they affect forensic conversion results.
  • Multi-file format conversion support has been improved, making batch processing more robust.

Installer Improvements

Both DVRConv and Engine use third-party executables for a variety of different tasks involved in the forensic conversion of digital media files. These executables are automatically installed, but in case of stringent antivirus and/or firewall policies, they may not function correctly and cause issues with conversion that may go unnoticed.

With this update, the program will check that the executables are stored in their correct location during installation and quickly test them to ensure they function correctly. If they don’t, you will receive an error informing you of the problem. Then, you will have the opportunity to troubleshoot before more serious issues down the line.

Error dialog in Amped DVRConv indicating missing or non-functional components in the installation directory, recommending reinstallation and showing a warning that correct results cannot be guaranteed.

Decoding Formats

With every release of DVRConv and Engine we introduce support for new proprietary formats and variants. Support for a new format does not equate to a finished project. DVR manufacturers continue to update their own systems, players and encoding methods. For this reason, it is important we keep talking to our users to ensure the support for that format is current and kept up to date.

In this release, we have added support for:

  • 2 new file extensions,
  • 8 new variations of already-supported formats,
  • 1 new timestamp format,
  • 3 new variations of already-supported timestamps and
  • 3 new variations of already-supported audio formats.

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

We continue to make improvements to current features and fix bugs. Below is the list of all the minor improvements and bug fixes we have added to this release.

  • IPP library (hash calculation libraries) updated to version 2025.3.0.372
  • Improved support for multi-file format conversion
  • Fixed a bug causing temporary conversion files to be stored on the desktop
  • Fixed a bug causing the program to hang when converting G64x files
  • Fixed a bug causing Engine to close when pressing the Enter key in the command prompt

FAQ – DVRConv & Engine Update

Why is this update important for forensic video conversion?

Forensic video conversion depends on reliable support for proprietary DVR and CCTV formats, plus accurate handling of timestamps and audio. This release expands format compatibility and adds installation checks designed to catch issues before they affect conversions.

What installer improvements were added in this release?

The installer now checks whether required third-party executables are in the correct location and performs a quick functionality test during installation. If something is missing or not working correctly, the software alerts the user so the issue can be resolved early.

Why do third-party executables matter in video conversion?

DVRConv and Engine use third-party executables for tasks involved in forensic digital media conversion. If antivirus or firewall policies block them or move them, conversion problems may occur. This update helps detect those issues sooner.

Does this update improve batch or multi-file video conversion?

Yes. The release specifically includes improved support for multi-file format conversion, which is relevant for workflows involving multiple exported video files from the same DVR or surveillance system.
