The new release of Amped DVRConv and Engine brings you support for a number of new formats and variants, and improvements to the installer and the management of your digital license.

Hello everyone and welcome to another update of Amped DVRConv and Amped Engine. With this release, we have added a number of newly supported formats and variants, which is no surprise! We also updated the internal video libraries and made some improvements to the installer. Read on to find out more!
Video Libraries Update
We have updated our FFMS video libraries to version 5.0 for both DVRConv and Engine. This can help with format support, both at the decoding and encoding stages, minimizing errors and conversion issues.
Installer Improvements
If you own a digital license and uninstall the program(s) for whatever reason, you will now be prompted to deactivate your license. This can save you a lot of time if you later decide to install the software on a different device or if you are upgrading your device’s hardware or operating system. However, if you plan to use the same device to reinstall or update the software, you can safely leave your license activated.

You will now also be able to customize the location of your activation files during the installation. These files are saved by default in a local user folder.
The new feature allows you to store them in a different folder, either locally or on a network, making license management easier for organizations with more complex user infrastructures.

Default Output Container in Program Options
We have changed the default output container to MKV (Matroska) for both DVRConv and Engine. This is more forensically adequate and compatible than its older AVI predecessor. This means that the MKV is selected by default when installing the program for the first time. Of course, you can still change your default container if you wish.

Decoding Formats
The ability to decode new proprietary formats and variants remains the priority for DVRConv and Engine development. Of course, for us, this is not just a matter of supporting new formats and file extensions. We add the ability to support new and/or modified variants of existing formats, as well as the ability to extract timestamps from video data. In this update of DVRConv and Engine, we have added support for 5 new formats, 1 new variation of an already-supported format and 1 new variation of an already-supported timestamp.
Other Improvements and Bug Fixes
We have also made some more minor improvements to current features and fixed a number of annoying bugs:
- Added the ability to audit log renaming caused by the use of Latin characters and converted file names. An entry containing details of old and new log file names will be printed in the .log file.
- Fixed an issue causing DVRConv not to open when the setting file is corrupted. A new setting file will now be created when the current one is corrupted, so the user can launch the program.
- Fixed an ordering issue causing some formats using multiple-file structure to fail.
- When converting formats using multiple-file structures, it is no longer necessary to drag them all into the conversion box. Any one file will suffice to convert all successfully.
- Fixed a bug in DVRConv causing a program crash when converting files containing a space at the end of the file name.
- Fixed a bug in DVRConv causing duplicate entries to appear in the conversion list.
- Fixed an issue causing successfully converted MKV files to be shown as “Failed” in the conversion list.
- Fixed an issue causing some files to fail conversion when their name contains Japanese characters.

FAQs – Amped DVRConv & Amped Engine
Amped DVRConv is a forensic batch conversion tool. It converts proprietary CCTV and DVR files into standard, playable formats while preserving evidential integrity. It’s designed for law enforcement, forensic labs, and investigators who regularly receive large volumes of surveillance video from many different recording systems.
Amped Engine is the core decoding and conversion engine behind DVRConv, designed to be integrated into other systems. While DVRConv is a ready-to-use desktop and server application, Engine allows developers and agencies to plug those same powerful conversion capabilities directly into Digital Evidence Management Systems (DEMS), case-management systems, or custom workflows.
These tools solve the common challenge of unplayable or proprietary CCTV and DVR files. They remove the need to install unknown codecs or vendor-specific players, automate bulk conversion, preserve timestamps where possible, and generate logs for transparency. This saves time, reduces technical errors, and helps ensure video can be reliably used as evidence.
Amped DVRConv and Engine are designed for forensic workflows. They prioritize container changes over re-encoding when possible, preserve original streams and metadata, and document the conversion process in detailed logs. This helps agencies show a clear, defensible chain from original proprietary files to review-ready video in court.
