Reading time: 2 min

With this release, we bring you the ability to wrap audio-only files to a video container and support for a number of new proprietary variants.

Amped DVRConv and Engine update

Hello everyone and welcome to another exciting update of Amped DVRConv and Amped Engine. With this update, we continue to extend the list of supported proprietary variants as well as improve the functionality of the software. Read on to find out more!

Video Container Available for Audio-only Files

It will now be possible to wrap audio-only files into the chosen video container. To enable or disable this feature in Amped DVRConv, simply navigate to the Program Options and select the appropriate choice from the “Use Video Format (Audio Only)” drop-down menu. In Amped Engine simply add the command line switch --use-video-format to enable the feature.

Screenshot of Amped DVRConv's "Program Options" window with the "Video" tab selected, showing conversion settings for DVR video files. The "Output Format" is set to MP4, and "Use video format (Audio Only)" is set to No, both indicated by red arrows. Other settings include H264 video codec, AAC audio codec, frame rate of 25, and options for audio stream separation, hash generation, and output file management. The interface provides conversion customization for forensic video analysis.

Move Input Files to the Output Folder

You will now be able to control the location of input files in Amped Engine once they have been converted. These were previously being relocated to the output folder. However,  they will now be retained in the input folder. If you do wish to move them to the output folder after all, you can now do so by using the command line switch --move.

Command Prompt window showing an Amped Engine command-line instruction to convert a video file. The command ampdengine /i "input file" --conversion-type=copy --format=mkv --move specifies copying the video without re-encoding, converting it to MKV format, and moving the original file after conversion. This example demonstrates a forensic video processing workflow using Amped Engine CLI on Windows 10.

Decoding Formats

The ability to decode new proprietary formats and variants remains the priority for DVRConv and Engine development. Of course, for us, this is not just a matter of supporting new formats and file extensions. We add the ability to support new and/or modified variants of existing formats, as well as the ability to extract timestamps from video data. In this update of DVRConv and Engine, we have added support for 6 new variations of already-supported formats.

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Added support for the Polish language
  • Fixed an issue which caused dropped files to appear twice in the conversion queue
